Well, that California trip clearly knocked my energies for a loop. It seems that since arriving home from that trip, life has been constantly on the go. Today I resume some normalcy in my routines and taking time to blog for at least five minutes.
There’s a bit to catch up on. My time has been primarily preoccupied with the team from California up here to visit. We took the youth group for seven days to The Father’s House church in Oroville, CA to work and learn with them. Earlier this week, a large portion of their team came up here to work with us for a few days before heading into Canada. A couple of their teammates were unable to cross the border and remained behind to hangout with all of us. It has been a wonderful few days with them! I’m really dreading their departure back to Cali, but I know that it’s where they need to be and that I’m sure to see them again in the future.
In addition to spending loads of time with students, Cali team members, and doing random church events (it’s been a full week at BFM), I’ve recently procured the position of fifth grade teacher at McMicken Heights Elementary School. Huzzah! Years of hard work in an economic slump have paid off!
After tomorrow, my posts will consist of updates with the professional development trainings I’ll be attending in preparation for this next school year. It’s an exciting time! I cannot tell a lie though – I’m sad to see summer come to an end. It’s been a full and rewarding time. While dealing with my despair, I’ll simultaneously be looking forward in anticipation for next summer and all that it will hold. I’m looking forward to vacation with my husband, a sister getting married and helping her prepare for it all year, among other possibilities. We shall see what the 2011-2012 school year holds!
Today, Terry and I attended our all-church picnic at Steel Lake in Federal Way. What fun! Shout out to Matt and Emily for planning games for all of us to participate in. I only have one picture from today. Enjoy!
Until tomorrow,
Christina
